it displays 'no disc' message when discs are in it. any obvious things to look for ?

hi there mine is doing the same, i tried checking all fuses and cant seem to find any fault, what actions have you tried?

Try the obvious, stick a head cleaner cd through the player see if that works. If not i'd pull the cd player out open the case and get a can of air duster from somewhere like office world and spray that around.
Failing that you could try to get at the lense to clean it with a cd cloth but its not easy, I've tried!
When you put it back together make sure all the cables are in flush. If none of this works then bite the bullet and buy one of Ebay!

I have had this happen twice now. I got around it by pressing the cd-cassette in a bit harder using just my fingers & holding it in > I could then hear the cd's loading and it all worked fine again. When it happened the second time, I repeated this and it's again working fine. I have no idea what the actual problem is, but if it keeps working like it is, that will do for me.
