I should go and take a couple of pics of mine. I put it in the roof console. It's not as flash as the previous pic, rather more "industrial" looking, but then I didnt have to dismantle the whole centre console to do it, and I only have to replace a couple of bits ($50) when I sell it rather than having to leave it and buy a new radio.
Mine is a Uniden 40 chl UHF with a built in bottom speaker and front mic so having it up on the roof console is perfect for listening to.
I ran the aerial cable through the inspection plate of the lamp and through the roof console to the left. It is visible where it departs that, but only for an inch or two until it runs down inside the A pillar moulding. It goes under the dash and out into the engine bay through a grommet(existing) and along past my ABS and snorkel to the bullbar.
I find it much better then being stuffed down in between the seats or cut into the dash as the mic doesnt role around and fall off the console when I am off road. The mic cable hooks up over the mic when travelling to keep it from swaying in my view. It does slap me in the face if I am off road and have been using the mic though.
