Hi,

I have some Wynn's intake/carburetor cleaner to use at the weekend on a 2.5 petrol 1986 Defender.

I have used it on other cars with intake manifold ECU controlled air/fuel mix with good results.

Any tips to cleaning out the carb on the Defender? Do i just take the top off and the pipes spray it in and give it a good clean?

Chris

the carb cleaners ive used, give it a good spray on the outside, might need a brush to get into the nooks, then a second spray.
air cleaner off, run engine, spray in.

Hi,

Thanks Tim "for fixing my car, your my favourite car technician, near or far"

Sorry Tim the anoying Halfords Advert kicked in.

It does say on the can, but im new to Defenfers so i didnt want to mess anything up.

Is there a how to?

:D

Just what i said, just check the can to see if engine running or not, some are combustible, some not.
pay attention to linkages etc, piviots on the inside.
The running engine ones are better cos itll clean the jets too.

Dont think theres a how to, petrol Fenders are pretty uncommon (technically an 86 is a ninety, not a defender :)
