The Doris has a friend with a 2006 LR3. She needs to replace a rear turn signal bulb but the rear hatch won't open making the task difficult. She can hear the mechanism actuate, but nothing happens.
Is there a trick to getting it to open manually?

recall if you press lock and unlock at the same time for 3 seconds give emergency tailgate unlock

As you haven’t had a definitive answer perhaps there isn’t manual means of opening tailgate, only electrically with button pressing.

From what she told me, it sounds as if a manual solution is what we're looking for. She can hear the electrics trying to do their business, but nothing happens.
