Hi all, having previously owned a Range Rover L322 some years ago we have ventured back into landy world with the purchase of a 2005 Freelander TD4 for my wife.
I just have 1 quick question, the cubby / storage type thing that sits on the roof between the passenger and driver just in front of the rear view mirror has an oval shape hole in it. Anyone know why or what its specifically meant for?

Thanks
Lee

I only have a modest XEDI so no such fancy stuff as storage on the roof.

However, if it is oval, I'm not sure what might go in an oval hole, that might be green with 2 words written on it.

ha ha yeah thats what I was thinking but wanted to check that its not a hole thats meant to be there for something else before I go searching for a new badge :)

My freelander 1 has this little storage space with the hole. The storage is for sunglasses and the hole is so you can poke your finger in to push the sunglasses out. I kid you not.

ha ha that was exactly what my wife said when we were trying to figure out why it had a hole in it, she was only joking at the time though! Damn now ill have to tell her she was actually right :(

that hole is for a garage/ gate remote, so u can store it in there and press the button without removing the unit

small storage bin type thing on the roof where you would usually find an interior / reading light. It has an oval hole in the bottom of it. Looks like not all models have it. Mines a 2005 3 door hardback

it’s one of these , only fitted to the 3 door models
