Been fitting a Safari Snorkle to my 300tdi today, but there is a bracket on the bulkhead thats obstructing the connection of the snorkle to the internal air pipe...

The snorkle can be seen entering through the wing in the top left of the photo. I had a galv bulkhead fitted last year and I think it might be from a TD5. I know that Ashtree sometimes supply TD5 bulkheads for 300tdi customers once they'e altered them.

Whats this bracket for, and can I cut it off?

Can't help you with what it's for - but if you do cut it off, make sure to protect the metal underneath as you'll have exposed non-galvanised bulkhead.

Good point instantsquid.

If I do cut it off, its quite tight in there so whats the best tool for the job. A Dremel perhaps?

Its prob a snorkle support bracket :D , but theres nothing else there so bed it out the way :)

No need to hammer it flat, just bend it enough to get it out of the way. Took about 10-seconds when I fitted my Safari Snorkle.

Yes you can cut this bracket off, just as you can cut your head off but you should really be asking..Wots this for...lol

Makes sense, Ill do it tomorrow. Did you push your back towards the bulkhead, or pull it forwards?

The bracket is to hold the radio antenna. There's a clip on mine that the bottom of the antenna clipped into.

Fitted my snorkel last week. The fitting instructions said to bend it forward by at least 90 degrees. I just bashed it with a hammer through the inlet hole in the wing before fitting the snorkel trunk to the wing

Ooops, I stand corrected, you did ask what its for, DOH and these joiners in that photo of Leadfarmer's are keen to get to work. Pity we didn't have a few more of their calibre.
