I think you have a good case against the police, based on my understanding of what happened - I STRONGLY suggest you seek legal help, try and get a 'no win, no fee' deal with a motoring specialist solicitor . . . . you may still face a fine, but better than getting points.
I took on the police with a speed camera 'aledged' offence - and WON, I still got a fine (long story) but avoided the points !!!
Don't suppose you have breakdown insurance (AA or similar)? They usually include free legal advice. You might even get it on your house insurance. Magistrates will usually listen helpfully if you present a clear case. A statement from any of the people you helped the day before would also help to prove you weren' just ****ing about. The cost for a normal solicitor is about 165 plus vat per hour or fixed at 600 plus vat
baring in mind that the fine if I took it would only have been 60 plus three points
but where do you get the no win no fee solicitors please

Sorry about that. Some of them do have legal cover I think. So also do some car insurers - mine does - would depend on your policy but could be worth checking. Mine is Norwich Union Direct. Apologies if it's another red herring.had a quick look on aa
legal advise is not on just do and donts on matters
