So what is the change of wanting to re-due the bottom end of the motor? When this was mentioned very early on in your build? You said it was rebuilt and no need to waste money? And got into a hell of a disagreement with a few of us on the subject? With you telling us we knew nothing
so your flywheel is gonna be drilled between the current bolt holes to fit your current crank?
Mines like that as the landy flywheel has a differnt bolt pattern than the p76 crank, I wondered if zen would freak out about it and I meant to show him when he was here![]()
Federal are very high quality can't go wrong with them. Never heard of the other name.
And the holes on the crank well dosen't sound like good idea. Old hole should be pluged, (Thread round rod installed and lock tighted in)
And never heard on internal ballanced crank. They are balanced, but have a harmonic balancer on the front of crank
Clevite were the original bearing company
Crank isn't being drilled it's the flywheel that's being drilled
The engine is internally balanced so the crank is balanced as far as I'm aware rather than having a flywheel with a 30oz weight offset on it
are federal mogul still in business?
I explored there derelict abandoned factory near guildford a few years ago!
Federal Mogul Camshafts, Surrey | TheTimeChamber
Mogul are in America yeah and I'll probably buy mogul if I need new shells as they're cheaper and quicker to ship!
Flywheel holes can't be plugged without tapping first but they might not need it, then again I could probably put a stud in and tig it too
fyi fedral mogal and clevite and a host of other names make most of there bits in the third world now, most likely shells will come from mexico!
Thats from the host of research I did when looking in to lifters (only one factory in the world making v8 lifters now thats not in the third world)
I wouldnt weld on the flywheel as it may not stay 100% flat or round
Well those are the only two other than some random unnamed for a third the price! Don't trust them though so will go federal, they look tougher
Both are good Doc, don't over think this part![]()
They're cheaper tooit's a no brainier if they're both good!
