also one that switch's gas/no gas come's in handy.
 
aye the best yer can get. If yer want to weldyer chassis get at least 150amp. try the mig welding forum in my siggy. Lots of helpful guides to buying a new/2nd hand welder.
 
Decent MIGs start around £250-300 for basic units.

I like Migatronic.

You may also want to look at Lincoln or Miller.

Don't be tempted to buy a cheap and cheerful welder. You'll be wasting your money and would be better of paying somebody to do the welding for you.

my kid brorher worked as a sheet metal worker but aint welded fer years though he says hell teach me ta use it
 
Gasless is great when you're first learning as it's one less thing to worry about, and you don't have to worry about the wind blowing the gas shroud away if you're outside.

reason ahm buying one is it cost me £300 quids tae git 2 sills welded on a fiesta
and ma brother mite be rusty an hate welding but he likes landies an a got tonnes o metal bar ,plate etc fi a job we ripped oot as well as 12 sheets o cheuqer plate so were gonna make recks n unite in hte back fer storage cooking etc when we go away in it
 
I've got arc and mig welders The arc was £5 from a bankrupt car dealership auction, and the mig was £60 off ebay, gas/no gas 190 amp. been having problems with the wire feed but it seems to have sorted it'self now.
 
To get a good weld with a mig i have found 170 amp or more are the best to use, that way you are well within the welders capabilities and get a smoother weld, a bit like the difference between doing 90 in a fiesta and 90 in a jag. Also unless things have changed with the wire since i was last regularly welding gasless is not a good idea for anything that is put under loads or is a safety issue as gasless welds are far more brittle and liable to crack under much lesser stres than a weld with gas.
