what is the best way to remove the original landrover bushes
they really dont want to budge
was thinking about burning them out but not too sure
advice please?

use an old screwdriver/small cold chisel good drift. and drive it down the back of the bush. this folds the outer sleeve inwards and reduces the diameter of the bush which then falls out of the radius arm (I'm assuming that's the one you mean?? )

Ill give that a try tommorow evening looks one of the easies ways ive seen
im replacing all of them for polybushes

Burning them out works but is messy, stinks, and it takes a long time.
Use a hole cutter to drill out the middle of the bush complete with steel liner.
Then bend the outer as shown above or carefully cut through the outer steel shell with a hacksaw.

Ill see if i can borrow a hole cutter from work aswell see which one works easiest for me thanks lads

I drilled a hole through the rubber between the two metal parts as big as i could. (Hope that makes sense.) I could then punch the middle one out with a chisel and heating the thinnest part of the radius arm gave me just enough play to punch the outer part out as well.

Hope you can understand what I did, it's hard to explain.

tried today using a hole cutter but this created loads of fumes so tired just knocking them out like first suggested and didnt get very far after about an hour
the bushes in my radius arms seem to have 3 metal sections and this is making it more difficult =/

You must have a disco then , I made myself a press adaptor when I did mine 2 weeks ago made life a lot easyer , but anyway just keep attacking them as they can be gits to do .

ah right , discos are 3 piece just assumed it was them that where like it . I found a cone section of steel at work that i cut down to just the right size to press them out all the way , and back in again . This is all good if you got access to a press .....

A couple of mine were really really stuck, even after removing the inner metal sleeve and the rubber piece. Probably get shot down in flames for this, but I put a hacksaw in and carefully cut the outer metal piece of the bush to weaken it, then bashed an old flat screwdriver down the outside of the bush and it pinged out!

Standard operating procedure. Secret is not to cut too far through the outer sleeve and damage whatever the bush sits in.
