Drove a couple of lanes around Bucklebury on my own today. Decided to go down a lane we haven't been down for years but remember it being quite tight between the trees.
1hr 1/2 later after cutting back many Holly bushes I made it to the other end, not wanting to scratch the paint work too badly, scratched myself a few times though. Most of the lanes around there are suited well to plodding around in a Series in 2 wheel drive. All sign posted well and wooden stakes set in the ground in certain places to stop you straying of course, doesn't stop the boingy idiots knocking them down and chewing up the adjoining woodland though!
Had a splash through Bucklebury ford while I was there, not a great deal of water in it though.
Up the Chieveley common for a spot of lunch, then up to the Ridgeway to head home. I did drive a couple of lanes before getting to the Ridgeway which was a mistake! It's one of them lanes which looked ok but soon was very tight and it wasn't really feasible to reverse back out, my pruning earlier on was completely in vain as it wasn't really Defender size between the hedgerows. Oh well it will polish out, well, actually they won't, sometimes I think my wife is right, I can be a bit of an idiot!
Came across a few dog walkers, horse riders and bike riders and they all seemed pretty happy, which is quite a surprise in that area as they hate Green laners round there.
Only other motorists on the lanes were a couple of illegal motor cross bike on the Ridgeway.
Ridgeway was incredibly dusty, you couldn't even see the cyclists stuck behind me 🤣
Will put up a video when I get chance.

I remeber that area and holes in the holly bush entrance to the lanes. Even with my rough paint I did not enter. I did not even have a look on the bike as I wanted my arms left.
Amazed how the idiots who go off piste never find these lanes and knock the bushes back..

Did you pop over Lambourn gallops on the way home ?

Chieveley was as far West I went today. I have a fair few small scratches on my arms from Holly cutting. Got a thank you from a horse rider and mountain bike rider, which is always nice. It is a good little lane but was getting a bit fed up I must admit.
Bucklebury has a lot of lanes to investigate, many are pretty tight so don't visit most of them. They were great for the 2a when we had that though.
