hi iam new to this. ive just started my series2a 2.25 petrol swb when its warmed up i get a brown froth come out of the rad could this be muck in cooling system or head warped please help i want to get it bk on the road

When was the last time the coolant was changed/rad flushed out

thanks will do that now if can work out how to. i filled it up about 2 weeks ago iam in the prosees of rebuilding it

Did you flush it out first?? If you didn't, then that's what I would start with, when did it last run?? Probably just years of ****e in there

What antifreeze did you use to fill it up? If its oats compatible it may have reacted with what's in there, more likely to be as said above and years of crap in there. I would check the cap for mayonnaise just to be safe tho although its doubtful

its last run about 4 years ago iam going to drop the bottom hose engine side and put the hose pipe in the rad cap and blast it for 15 mins till i get clean water out the fill it bk upand run it again till its warm. would that effect the running of it as at the mo its running 6,7 degress the wrong way JON GOULD its got comma pink it i( i by it by the 50gallon drum for drain jetter)

Could be the new stuff has reacted with the old stuff, Im pretty sure they aren't compatable All the crap in there is probably just adding to your problems. Id give it a good flush out, and then start from scratch and see how you go on, let us know what happens

Quite possible thats its reacted as the red is OATS antifreeze. It will also affect the cooling as less usable coolant and cooling space in the system. I would do as you have said and run a hose through the rad, I would also run it through the block and any hoses you can get to as well, dont forget the heater matrix will need flushing as well.

ive just bn into my local parts place and talking to the guy in there who now landrovers well. he reckon worth checking the core plugs in the cylinder head as they tend to rust out anybody else heard of that please

If you think that the core plugs might be rusty replace 'em - they're only pennies, but they can be a bugger to get to ...

also your radiator core could be corroded - same stuff

get a new pressure cap for the rad anorl
