Hi just brought my first series 3 landrover which will also be my first ever project. I just wondered what you can do to this model its a lwb station wagen. Can you change body styles etc, suspension changes etc. Just need some ideas if anyone can help.
cheers rich

Yes, the world is your ashtray...changing panels etc is an easy enough job..enjoy!

Station Wagon is the best looking body in my opinion but it's your Landy, so do what you want with it. It's easy enough to change it into whatever style you want. Just have fun and as previously said: ENJOY!

Excellent motors, ive had two, a full canvas tilt and a station wagon, both 109"

You can pretty much make them into any style just by using a couple of spanners :)

series landys are in my opinion big kids meccano noting cant be done they really are the grand daddy of interchangeable adaptable items

once you start you wont stop be warned :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

well it should be here tomorrow cant wait. What are the areas of concern on these? Also what bits are ali and which are steel? Should be a great project. I have been told a defender front fits these as do the plastic archs.
I i sound like dumb ass its because its my first, so sorry for any silly questions

If you wanna look like a **** then yes they do;)

PMSL. Is that what people think to that idea then. what about wider steels and tyres?

You may find the steering gets even heavier than heavy with big rubber, no power steering you see. In my book, nothing looks better than a nicely sorted series, no plastic arches, odd looking front ends and so on :D

Is it hard to convert to power steering at all and at what cost/ I like the looks of the series 3 as standard was just gauging what you can do with them. I like the military looking ones best but they were fetching more money, but that is the look i would like to go for if possible

it can be done but it sounds like a 'fender may have been what you wanted?

the beauty of a series is there basic nature, no electrics, no hydraulics, no aircon, no climate control, no alarms etc.

not to mention that nice stepped in front to fit a bloody good winch and the pto shaft hole in the rear crossmember just right fer a hidden winch behind it :D:D:D:D

That front step is also great for kneeling on when doing tappets etc

i just used to remove the bonnet leg tip the bonnet all the way up and lean it against the windscreen so i can sit on the wings n do me tappets n carb fiddling (yet another fond memory lol ) ill get her back by hook or by crook :D:D:D

Yes :D

There was almost enough room in there to get in and shut the bonnet when it started raining :D:D
