Any thoughts? Towing a trailer, TD4 started to lose power, engine light came on then car ground to a halt. Engine turns over but won't start! Green Flag just delivered me home thankfully but am wondering what it's most likely to be. Cheers, Carol
 
is there any kind of reset needed for the engine management light - starter turning but not starting!
 
Your fuel pump is sticking, Mine was same, waited couple of hours and it started until nexr time. New fuel pump needed I think.
 
Which pump are you hitting? what age is the Td4, it may have more than one Lp pump? can you hear it/them running when ignition is first tuned on?

:confused: If your referring to the Lp pump it just stops working. If you mean the Hp pump then yes they have been known to leak some when cold reducing/stopping as the pump body warms up.

No it just doesnt start and when turning it over, there is fuel coming from fuel pump area.

My father was driving it and it just cut out??
 
You need to be more specific......which pump?

any work done recently? pipe connector come apart?
 
High pressure pump
Only work it's had is new injectors
It's leaking from the front O/S.

Just brough the pump remove tool so will have a look when I have a day free.
 
New fuel pump has not fixed it! Engine won't fire at at all - anyone got any knowledge of what else might be the problem? 2001 TD4 - beginning to panic now!
 
Could be many things, it really needs scanning but my monies on an injector fault, I'd doo a bleed-off test first!

Yes, shame your with Green Flag as they mainly use contractors who will just recover vehicles rather than repair them.
RAC/AA carry diagnostic equipment and are trained to use them!
 
ah, I didn't consider that roadside would be able to do any of that. only with green flag as it comes with the bank account! the pump was goosed anyway but it still isnt starting so guess I will just have to wait and see!
