ok cool, learned something. what causes the gasses and when? always or only when very hot? and am i right about the reduced contact patch?

the groves and holes are to let the gases out which normally cause the glaze.

Are you sure Fett? I've always understood the holes were for dissipating heat and the grooves were to break the glaze (although is that their secondary purpose and their primary one is as you say?):confused:

Yeah last I read , twas in a bmw mag but all the same and its to let the minute bubbles if gas dissapate rather than boiling away on the surface and causing the glaze and pressure holding the pad off.

If I had it electronically and/or I could find the magazine I would show ya lol pretty sure I kept em all so I will let you know if I see it. keepin 3 v8's on the road takes most of my time though lol oh yeah and a wife and a full time job :D
