So ive got myself a "performance" hmmmmmmm, exhaust system, which includes DE-CAT down pipe, straight through centre section, and a single silencer at the rear....

Removed the old exhaust yesterday, with no real probs... But................................ HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET THE NEW DOWNPIPE IN????????????????????????????????????????????

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Im pretty good at jigsaw puzzles, but i cant find a way of getting that flipping down pipe in

@@@@£(&*^£(*&£%(&^£(£*^(£*^£(*£^"$^%£!$£^%"£())::

I must have tries every way humanly possible to get the downpipe to go through by the side of the gearbox and then over the front axle and up to the manifold, yes i can get it almost there, but then the flange is pointing down towards the axle, not up towards the manifold grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ANNNNOYYYYYYEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!

HELP!

Lift up the chassis but drop the front axle. It makes more room for the bend to get up inside the gap.

As George said, you have to create working room by jacking up the front of the chassis so there is more room between it and the front axle.

Take the chassis as high as you can until the wheels are almost off the ground, that is then at maximum extension of the suspension.

Before to prop up the chassis securely as you will be working underneath - axle stands on the chassis are my preferred method.

I'm gonna have to do mine any time soon. Do you have to jack both sides up, or just the side where the down pipe goes?

I jack up the front end of the chassis, so your are lifting both sides at once, but without lifting the axle. Then I feed the new pipe in from the front.

Thanks for your replies guys.... In the end today I used a high lift trolley jack with a block of wood on top, under the front cross member.... Jacked up the chassis and let the front axle dangle on the shocks and springs, supported on 2 x axle stands, and that gave me just enough room to get the pipe in over the centre cross member and over the front axle and up onto the manifold! yay!

It sounds good with the straight through system on, and it was a bargain too from Terrain Vehicles (local to me) £75 all in!!! Bargain me thinks....

Just got to see what response gains i get from it, once all the other work is finished and ive got it thru the dreaded MOT!!!

Hi J5,

Can you let me know how you get on with the MOT with that exhaust, mine is just about to drop off and I'm looking for a replacement so I'd like to see how this gets on. Also performance gains would be interested.

Was gonna ask if it was v8 as I changed mine quite easily on my 300
