Thanks every one it is what i though they must be ok so will be ordering a complete set, i was going to go for a braided set as they work out cheaper butt they dont come with all the brackets unlike the BP ones as i am going to the trouble of all new bolts and cleaning and painting, new brackets it is

With a new caliper at about £25, personally I don't think it's worth messing about trying to renovate an old caliper. I like to be sure my brakes work.

I remember around 1979 getting my first car (Austin 1300 1972) and going to Halfords for service stuff and being shocked how cheap air, oil filters, sparkplugs and brakepads were compared to the RD250c I had at the time. Around 1/4 of the price. Shocked again when I needed 4 tyres (£24 remoulds £6 each fitted!) £27 for a rear tyre for the bike.

The calipers and discs were changed a few years ago and are still nice but might get a coat of paint just got to choose the colour
i have ordered pads front &rear slide pins f&r all new bolts for calipers and mounts and the six flexi pipes so work will commence as soon as they arrive.

Sure I've got a set of new brake blocks on my bike in the garage,haven't been out on it since the farmer cut his blackthorn hedge,all the cuttings went on the cycle path. I got 11 punctures in the front tyre and 17 in the rear!! Walked half a mile back for the Classic, threw it in the back and its hung in the garage since.wish they were that cheap for my bike
