drive it back to them in the morning and get them to check it.

Not an option - I have a job, sadly, so must be there on time! Next time I'll be able to take it to them is in 9 days time (next weekend). At events both days this weekend and work 9-5 Mon-Fri and garage in opposite direction to workplace!

test after 10 miles then again till your satisfied

Well I've already driven 8-10 miles, hence noticing it getting hot. Given that I can't take it back to the garage or work on it until at least next weekend I guess my only option is to drive it as much as I need to and hope it starts to cool down...

not ideal, but my only option I guess!

i meant keep checking ,till your satisfied its not getting worse and is just brake heat

true. well, if it gets worse I will definitely take it back, but if it remains constant even after 200 miles of driving over the next week or two, surely it'll just wear out all the wheel bearings rather quickly...

personally I would not drive the vehicle until you have had it sorted. Due to the heat you will just overheat your brakes and then they just wont work. If the job was completed properly your brakes would not get hot at all not even during bedding in period. They might get warm but definatly not hot enough to burn your hand.

Well I have no option, sadly. I had to drive to work this morning (6 miles), I will have to drive home later (6 miles), I must drive to an event and back again tomorrow (total 50 miles), and I must drive to another two events on Sunday (total 60 miles). I must then drive to work for 5 days next week (total 60 miles).

So... I have no option but to drive for 182 miles at least until I will have time to check things out. I can't take taxi's instead - too expensive.

I guess after that period I will just find out :(

with regards to what james is telling you: I find sometimes its easier to understand something once you start to take it all apart, I quite often read something and think "heh?" until I start on the job and then I usually find myself saying "aaaaaaah, thats what they meant...."

Ive had to do the job a few times so now it makes perfect sense to me. it didnt in the beginning.
