Hi

The brakes on my disco 1 300tdi has gone hard and it does not want to stop. Please help with some suggestions.

servo or servo hose check the large vac hose from the vac pump to the servo

Gently pull out the vacuum pipe, start the engine and place your thumb over the pipe, if the pipe latches onto your thumb like a good un, you have a duff servo, if the pipe is not interested in your thumb, you have a duff vacuum pump.

it's usual for them not to want to stop... the day I got my disco I forgot everything I knew abaout braking distances... now all I need to remember at 80mph is

if I can see a car in front of me I'm too close...

first car I ever bought with discs all round and it still takes a mile to stop her...

mind you... I love the abs... scare the (*&(*& out of passengers and dead easy to make it kick in....

new tyres soon though.. maybe she'll stop properly then....
