Hi does anyone know why the brake warning light would stay on, on a 110. I have checked the two wires on the master cylinder but can't work out why it won't go out. Please help.

maybe the sensor/microswitch thingy is duff?

On the master cylinder reservoir.

Dunno if Land Rovers have them fitted but some brakes have a wire embedded in the pads that create a circuit when the pads wear down and turn the warning light on

Mine comes on whenever I'm going up or down a steep hill and whenever I'm in low box. The rest of the time it's fine - wierd!

It's a 1985 but I've had a 200 disco lump in it bugger if I know why, perhaps i'll just take the bulb out

Hi correct me if im wrong but doesn't the hand brake warning light share the same bulb as the brake fluid resivoir. May be your looking at the wrong end of the system and need to check the wiring on the hand brake switch.

i think thats only on a rangie, i dont think defenders have such luxuries

Hi,

Both my 300 defenders 90 and 110 have hand brake warning light fitted.

Not to sure if my early 90 has I will need to check and let you know.

Mine ('89 90) hasn't got a switch on the handbrake. I have to rely on memory, smell and loss of power to release the handbrake.
