do you have to replace all of a brake line? from one union to the next?

or is it possible to remove the corroded end and fit a new bit of pipe?

are there such things as connectors to connect a new bit on to the end of the original pipe?

im guessing there aint cos i aint heard of anything like this and cant find any on a google search...

i use these brass unions they work great

Olive type fittings like these are not legal for brake pipes acording to the mot guy who failed my fathers patrol because he used them they must be flared fittings but for the sake of a few quid you not better just doing the whole pipe ?

Always replace from fitting to fitting and my rule is that if you are not sure then do it again better lol

You can however get the flare fittings which are the minimum you will need to fit. Hope it helps

I just did those two pipes and it only took a little over an hour. Disconnect and wangle out the old ones, you wil need to bend them a little near the offside end to get them out and un-clip the two cable looms.

Lay the old pipes on the floor and make your new ones to match then they should slot back in the way the old ones came out with just the extra bend to straighten out.

You can actually cut back the old pipes and make new ends but if they are steel then you need a hydraulic flaring tool and they might crack anyway since they ate old. If you can its always best to replace the whole section and on mine they were the last steel pipes on the car so I shouldn't need to do any pipes on it again.

Compression fitting can't take the pressure in a breaking system, they might last a while with normal breaking but when you need to break hard in an emergency they will leak burst or just pop off. If anyone has used them please replace them immediately with proper flared break fittings before you have a disaster.
