Well i presume yer lights are on all the time, the switch is right up under the peddle, it is possible to over run it if you lift the brake peddle so it will need reseting. Un clip it release the ratchet and fully extend the plunger, refit, press peddle down and it should be set, dont lift the peddle ever again

Not sure what happened to my original post I'll try again.
The hdc light kept coming on so was advised to change brake switch.
Bought the genuine modded version and now I have no brake lights.
Can't see how I could fit it wrong it just twists in

Did you buy also the harness to go with Brake Light Switch mod? For fitting the best to remember is the connector needs to point upwards so the BLS needs to start off angle the turn.
Haynes says 1. Depress and hold brake pedal then pull out the switch plunger to full extent. Release the pedal and the switch plunger will automatically set to correct position.
There is another switch underneath for cruise control this will be below the BLS
