Right start off its a 200tdi 90
Hand brake light has never worked so when ya put it on.. its just a case of hope for the best, if it don't work then ya ****** but anyway..
Noticed earlier as i was chugging along down a rather steep hill on the way home, banged it in neutral (as ya do) wheeling along and the the brake light flickered on and stayed on for abit, pumped the brakes, din go off, banged it in gear.. stayed on, then after about 10 seconds it went off..
Eh? doesn't work when it should (eg handbreak on) then comes on when freewheeling down a hill...
id be worried if i had ABS or owt like that.. but i don't.. just strange..
any suggestions as to what it could be??

check the wires to the cap on brake res, if theres power to it and the cable is in good nick the it could be teh cap itself which i imagine would be a cheap repair. of course these remedies are useless unless the fluid level is correct , correct how long has the brake oil been in ? may need changing.

if its the handbrake light then i imagine it could be as simple as the switch being lose, if its lose then i will move and get stuck at random times perhaps going down hill has let it fall foward thus turning it on and it being stuck there meant it stayed, im guessing really as im not with you and ya wagon lol. but theres some ideas to try

fluid level seems about normal.. it could be dipping into the low as the hills round here are incredibly steep..
breaks seem fine anyway so not too worried as yet!

if the light is flicking and the fluid "seems normal"... top it up.

as you say its, when you get to hills and stuff that the fluid moves around and the light flicks

the simple things always get overlooked.. where all fools to our superior technical knowledge ey! ;)

( not that i have any of that Knowledge! ) ;)
