ps: Its a Range Rover - Jeeps are a cheap comparatively reliable American SUV for those who can't afford a Range Rover or put up with the unreliability....please don't cheapen the Range Rover brand - the Evoque is doing that well enough on its own..!!

Range Rovers are totally reliable. It's just that some people insist on getting them wet. That causes all sorts of problems.
A P38 is not a car, it's a hobby, bit like a mistress really, all the cost but without the satisfaction

I know Jeeps are in general more reliable than Rangies, but my P38 is a model of reliability compared to a friend's Jeep GC - which has done fewer miles. It has been a sorry tale of breakdowns and woe since the day he bought it three years ago. I'm fed up with saying "should have bought a Range Rover" to wind him up! The early ribs of "have you got your AA card?" when I first bought my P38 are long-forgotten.

I'm on my third jeep now
1st was a cherokee on lpg, 18 months ownership daily drive, only issue was failed power steering pump - it was a R plate on 100k
2nd was Grand Cherokee V8, that was a W plate 65k, that developed an electrical fault which meant it kept stalling if you had the heater or acu on, so I sold that quick
Current vehicle is early GC on S plate, 80k. Touch wood no issues at all yet v reliable daily drive on lpg nothing wrong after about 1 yr of ownership
As with most cars, I think there are always the odd "bad ones", just hope you don't end up buying the pup
