Have topped up the oil but to no avail, it looks virtually new so I am guessing it needs air bleeding out of it, any ideas?

Yes just double checked!!! I can pull the centre column up by hand although it does sound as if it is running through oil........ pumping does nothing at all.

New seal probably needed then

There's a selection on ebay from around £20 to £89.50 plus £8.50 postage (!).

A new seal, if you can get one would be the way to go.

Did you turn the lever to raise position?

I did close the valve at the bottom right up if that is what you mean?
Didnt see any other adjustments possible?

sling it and buy a working one from a breaker .... or fleabay... either cash on collection after youve seen it working , or paypal so you can get yer money back if it dont work.
