When I got my Defender 90 I discovered that the snorkel wasn't fitted, the pipe from the air filter to the wing intake was missing also....
When I tried to purchase the pipe I was told it was no longer available, I decided to try botching the connection...

I'm really pleased with the result!

Gasket over the snorkel inlet. (Kindly provided by Chris at Dingo Croft)

A hose coupling from fume extraction I sell at work.

Fume extraction hose routed from air filter.

Connected to the coupling which is attached to the snorkel.

Screw snorkel to the wing.
I do have some extra sealing of the pipes to do, but I think this is a good botch.
I don't intend to do any wading but if the snorkel is there I'd rather it is attached so if I have to wade I can.

Does any one know of a list of what else I need to do, breather pipes etc for wading ?

Good job! As for wading check that every single pipe is removed, sealed with a good quality sealant and reconnected. Also check your airbox is actually water tight. Good test for this is to start the engine then place a clipboard on top of the snorkel, if it stalls its sealed if it doesnt airs getting in.

Depending on your model you'll need different breathers.

Front/Rear Axles
Transfer Box
Gearbox
Timing Case - Depends on the model

Its also a hell of a lot cheaper to source all the pipe and connectors yourself, cost me £12 rather than the £30 - £60 most companies charge!

Otherwise your good to go, bear in mind muddy water could potentially ruin your starter motor & alternator. I always like to use a wading blanket as well, keeps more crud out of the rad and intercooler.

That is exactly the bit I need to fit my drover, chap I bought if off exclamed it was for a 200tdi when it was clearly a 300tdi. Great bodge BTW.

Yes I am pleased with it.
As I said, I don't intend to wade anyway, so this isn't preparation for wading, I hope never to ruin my alternator/stater motor with mud!

But a road was blocked for road works whilst going to the beater annual BBQ on the estate the other day and we could have waded through a short ford, would have got as deep as just above the doors, but not for long.
So if it is ready for wading I would attempt something like that.

Also if it is ready for wading I don't need to worry about splashing through some deep 'puddles' off road either...

Thanks I'll look into all that, I did intend getting the breather pipes from somewhere other than a Land Rover supplier, think the front pipe is £25!

Also you can go side skirt? Depth with no snork no problems providing you wade correctly.

As long as the water is clean you should be able to go headlight depth with no real issues. I have a couple times in my TD5 no problem.

Problems happen when your headlight depth in mucky water! X2 starters and x3 alternators later i learnt my lesson lol.
