Ok see it. That’s something I could do with although it’s on a Thor and I need for Gems, do you remember where/who you got it from?
Or is it standard fitment in the disco.
Got a bit more done this morning, cam chain and sprockets off, rocker assemblies, pushrods, followers, cam, valley gasket and both heads. The head bolts were the tightest thing i've ever had to undo, broke one socket but managed to get it done. Cleaned the top of a couple of pistons to see the markings. The 4.6
block is looking very good, no offset machining marks in the valley and the liners look great, you can only see the top seam in a few places, the old block you can clearly see them and the way round on every liner.
Well i'm back at it after a cheeky Nurburgring road trip with a couple of mates and then a family holiday to the Norfolk broads.
So i've stripped the pistons and rods from the 4.6 block and cleaned them ready for disassembly.
During strip down I discovered 1 broken ring and some slight damage to a 4.6 piston. Doesn't matter as I only need the rods.
Here's a comparison shot of the 4.6 and 4.0 pistons, notice the dish is deeper on the 4.6. This is why i'm using my 4.0 pistons, it will create a high compression build that must be run on super e5 fuel.
Here's a before and after of the 4.0 pistons.
Managed to get 6 ready today, the carbon was a bastard on the 4.0 pistons. Will finish these off on wednesday.
