Hi all

Hopefully not a major problem but need your help?

On way home tonight my temp gauge went up into the red, stopped there for about 2 mins then dropped straight back to its normal position of halfway???

When I got home I checked water in expansion tank and it was low but nothing major, so I topped up.
Now I can't get the system to bleed? I've got the b&q valve on thermostat housing but all I get out of it is air??? I've topped up the rad through the brass plug on top of rad but no joy???
Heater has always been warm throughout and all the hose are supple and hot.

I thought they were supposed to self bleeding but ive never managed to get that to work, I'm always left with air in the system

Try this, ive used it a few times now and seems to work ok.
1. take off the tank cap
2. undo the cap on top of the thermostat
3. fill through the thermostat housing until the tank is at the correct level
4. replace tank cap
5. fill throught the thermostat housing until full
6. loosen the radiator cap until water comes out
7. re-tighten radiator cap
8. top up thermostat housing
9. replace thermostat cap
10. double check level in tank
11. go for a drive for 5 mins to get up to temp
12. receck level in thermostat housing after its cooled down thoroughly

seems overkill but works for me

whilst i was there found my water pump gasket is leaking, another job for the weekend!!!
