Well, i've just read the other main/spot lights problem below, and i have a slightly different problem.

I do have spotlights attached to my main beam through a relay and all that palava . But there all correct, i'm not sure what watt the lamps are, but i dont think thats the problem, as i can detach them from the main beam circuit and the problem still occurs.


Ok, side lights are fine. Dipped, one side is normal, other side is low (drivers side). when i 'lock' main beam, the relay in the passenger compartment rapidly clicks, i 'release' and it stops.

Just as a side note, if the spot lights ARE attached to the circuit, when i 'release' the main they stay on unless i switch all the lights off.

So is this the main/dip relay? or a gremlin? lol or something else.

Oh and i've re-checked my earths on my spots, there fine too.

gonna check my head light plug on the driver side tonight.

Had a similar problem recently with one head light being severely dimmer than the other on both dip and main beam. I checked the voltage at the lighting connector and was only getting about 5V to either filamen. Traced the fault to the earth stud welded to the inner wing which came off completely when I put a spanner on the nut to loosen it.

Improvised a new earth and hey presto all is now sweetness and light (sorry couldn't resist it)

Drivers side earth stud should be between the engine compartment fuse box and the bulkhead. Right by the cruise control diaphram (if you have that fitted).
