Hi,

My 2001 Freelander TD4 has a sizeable black box shaped object under the passenger dash area, above the footwell.

Does anyone know what this is for? Whatever it is, I think it's in a bit of a stupid place because it restricts legroom and can be nasty if you bang your leg on it.

It is part of the air conditioning unit - it is in a bit of a daft place but at least it keeps you cool
