What does this symbol mean and this switch do?



Trying to get on top of my electrics but not very good if thicko here doesn't know what's supposed to happen when I flip the switch!

you need side lights on as well

On the subject of strange switches; a previous owner of my D1 installed a switch on the dash that allows you to remove the keys but keeps the engine running. Don't know why or how but there it is.
What strange switches have you got?

i have a one that connects the ign live to perm.. i think this was more to do with the ign switch being broke and the PO being a cheapskate.

saying that, i haven't bothered fixing it yet

Sounds like an overrun switch to allow you to run emergency lights etc without running the battery down. Touch the brake or clutch pedal and it cuts the engine off to stop it getting stolen. Emergency services use them.
