I've had this problem a couple o' times now.

Its seems to be when I leave the landy for a few days and dont drive her, not long maybe 3 or 4 days, the clutch goes completely, no pressure on it at all and the fluid in the resevoir goes down.

I can bleed it easily and then it works fine. Its just a pain in the arse when it goes at a bad time.

Just wandering then, is anything seriously wrong? I can't find any leaks and both slave and master cylinders seem hunky dory.

Can't tell, its a very slow leak if it is.

And I'm not taking her apart until the weather gets better.

Just curious as to whether it was some kinda recurring problem with defenders.

Air in the system thats all gathering, or small leak.

Jam your clutch down overnight and see if that cures it - once I have bled mine it doesn't get good for about a week, but if I jam the pedal down overnight it takes about 2 days.

take the slave off bet its wet inside. but remember the pin is held in by a small clip if you pull it out you have fun putting it back in!!

Cheers fellas,

I haven't had chance to look yet, its too bleddy dark n' cold. If it is the slave I'll just change the rubbers on her.

You can pick up a slave cylinder for about £8...I just bought a master and slave for under £20 off ebay...both new and perfect...
