ok so i took the heater motor out of my series 3 today and it was a pile of rust. anybody know where to find a new one?
will the defender one fit?
i have made my own from an old electric scooter motor but its noisy as hell, fits in well with a series 3 but would like a better one.

i reckon that old landys are like labrador pups, they get so excited every time they see you they wee on the drive.

Mine fell apart too, so I replaced it with a bilge blower from ebay. Seems to work OK, and shifts about 2-3x the air that the series blower did - the thing actually demists and gets warm now!

cool did you put the blower in the same casing or replace the lot?

dont suppose you could point me in the direction of one could you?

I used something similar to this:

Bilge Blower 12v Marine 4" In-Line Exhaust RULE 240 | eBay

I fitted it next to the heater inlet (where the old fan sat), with tumble drier ducting to the heater core. I used either a 1 or 2 ohm resistor (I can't remember which) to give me the dual fan speeds back again.

You can fit a complete defender heater blower / core unit - if you search for 'nicks land rover' there's a writeup on how to do it :)

cheers for that. got one today and just finished fitting it.....wow i cant believe how good it is.
used the 3 inch fan which slots perfectly into the heat exchanger inlet.

we may need to write to the guiness book of records, two series land rovers with working heaters has to be a new world record.

My heating works too :p but I think its more down to the fact the V8 overheats at the mo so I get all the extra heat in the cab

overheating dont count. in order to claim the record you have to have warm air coming into the cab from the origional ducting.

i know i just checked.....the current record is 0.00

I doubt it's going to work once the new engine goes in :( Might have to mount the radiator in the cab just to get some warmth
