hi all trying to find out what is the best type of oil to use in my 2.25 petrol any ideas as there are many different brands.

Almost any Multi-grade Mineral oil for petrol engines will work, don't use synth or semi-synth.

I used to visit the local farm stores and get the cheapest they had and changed it regularly.

Out of interest, why only mineral? Is it just a cost issue or could synthetic do something bad?

got told to use 20 50 got some from halfords 18 quid came in the old style can called classic motor oil

Get yourself 10L of this - Buy Smith & Allan 20w/50 Motor Oil API SF/CC online | Automotive Oil | Smith & Allan (Since you need 6.25L for the engine). I would pick up a 1L measuring jug and metal funnel at the same time.

yeah, why not synthetic? Thats what I have been throwing in the top and spewing out the exhaust!

Think it's got something to do with the synthetic additives eating away the bronze-phosphor washers n stuff in the old engines which modern engines don't have...?

yes its hard to get these days but its still green, i find the older motorist shops sometimes have it in
