Have you tried moving the wires under passenger seat as a lose connection there will cause the SRS light to come on
This is so BRILLIANT.
I could think of a million & one things that could be wired up like this in times of need.

Think it might be best to fix the fault rather than rewire it out of view to be honest.

To be honest Ant i don't think it is good policy to give out advice on here how to cut out a safety feature, or to mask one from view that is not functioning.

Agreed Tony - as I said in post #8, I can't condone such activity.....
I look at it from the point of view that the people being told don't know their arse from their elbow. If they did they would not be on here asking questions. There are certain things it is best to keep quiet about.

Recently, reports in both the popular and the scientific literature have questioned the safety and efficacy of air bags in passenger cars. Air bags were introduced in the 1960s and were created to reduce injury associated with frontal impacts. Since 1991, and in response to a US congressional mandate, air bags have been required on the driver side of most passenger cars and of light trucks and vans. As a result, air bags are now widely used, standard equipment on most passenger cars, light trucks, and minivans. From the time that air bags were introduced through early 2000, 152 deaths have been attributed to air bag deployment in low-severity crashes, and 58 decedents were drivers (1). These deaths have raised questions about air bag safety and efficacy. Despite concerns, the public perceives air bags as an effective and important automobile safety component (2).
Previous reports have estimated the mortality reduction attributable to air bags for drivers (3, 4) and for front-seat passengers (5). Estimates for drivers range from 24 to 28 percent (4, 5) and are 18 percent (5) for front-seat passengers. Thus, we undertook a matched case-control study to measure the mortality reduction associated with air bag deployment and seat belt use for drivers involved in head-on passenger car collisions, after adjusting for potential confounders. We hypothesized that using either an air bag or a seat belt would significantly reduce mortality and that using seat belts in combination with air bags would provide a synergistic mortality reduction on the multiplicative scale greater than expected with either restraint system alone.

I just find some people square by the book, if the chap wants to rewire he's light good luck to him it Dave him a fortune being ripped off.
Personally I'm not square my light comes on I move the wires it goes out next start up I don't give a monkeys weather it works or don't , apart from not time .
My point I don't my heart and soul in that a air bag going to save my life !
Where as my driving ability can and the condition of important things like brakes tyres more important than a proxy eu pushed air bag
I agree to a certain point. Safety features built into cars these days whilst saving lives, cause some to drive like complete pricks because they feel immune. But i would not want someone who i had told how to disconnect his airbags, die because he did it and his seatbelt failed in a headon. Seatbelts were introduced in this country to save on NHS costs more than anything else. It certainly had nothing to do with Europe.

but you're quite happy to tell people to put rolled up newspaper into a spinning fan that could shatter the blades causing devastation and damage to oneself or car
Actually after many years of experience i actually use my hand. But to avoid have you had an accident in the past, when Wammers told you how to check your fan claims. I now prefer to convey the newspaper trick. No fans will be harmed doing that. Now a piece of wood maybe would give a different result. You don't actually put the news paper or your hand INTO the fan just rest it on the retreating part of it at tickover.

Do you realise that if the newspaper is rolled up tight enough it can be used as a weapon , anyway some people are that stupid that's the trouble wammers

I described how to test the viscous fan with your hand on a cold and warm engine many moons ago. If done properly there is no danger at all. I have done it many hundreds of times and still have all my fingers. However on reflection it was possibly not a good thing to do as some numpty sticking his hand into the advancing blades, as could happen, is not good for their flute playing career. However lets have another go and see if we can refine things a little. With the engine cold and NOT running. Turn the viscous fan by hand, it maybe slightly stiff but should free off after a couple of turns. If it cannot be freed or is very hard to turn it is seized. Start engine and run up to normal temp. Stop engine, turn fan by hand it should be stiff to turn but not impossible to turn. Job done brew up.

As for locked fan can't see the harm myself fixed fans have been
Out for years, not going to make that much difference to warming up .
Fixed fans did not have anywhere near the air movement capability of the newer multi blade viscous units. If the viscous is seized it will cause slower warm up. A viscous fan that is seized sucks BHP from your engine and therefore loads it far more than a fixed fan would have done, because of it's far greater capacity to move air, and therefore the amount of resistance to turning that produces. Fuel consumption will be up for a start.
