First, thanks for the replies I got to a couple of questions. To continue the saga the belt screech(well some of it) turned out to be the wrong alternator that had been fitted(looked shiny and new)and the fact that the bearings in it were shot.
I fitted a new alternator, but I am now left with the turbo screaming its head off.Amazing to think that I drove this from Manchester to Leeds and it ran like a dream that was a 1000 miles ago.
My local 4x4 center did not notice the turbo scream or the fact it had the wrong alternator.
Heres a question! can you get the turbo off without removing the manifold?.Dave
