Type in universal intercooler on ebay you will find loads that will fit and they are only about £60 brand new hope this helps.

or you could use a standard td5 intercooler which fits nicely across the front of the radiator between the wings

this is mine as i fitted into my 1965 109

Thanks for the help I'll look into them. I was worried about the amount of crud in there. I'm taking it upto my local landrover guy next Saturday so he can end it off to get skimmed and whatever else. Is it just the head bit I need to give him.

if it's just mud in your radiator i suggest you get your garden hoses out and start washing it out, the last radiator i fitted was full of mud where it had been offroaded and i just washed it all out, it took a fair bit of time but i got it clear

DO NOT use a pressure washer on it as that can accelerate and damage/rot

it's up to you but i find 200tdi's run so cool that you could "almost" throw the radiator away, my 109 hasn't had a fan on it since i fitted my 200tdi and it hasn't overheated even when laning on the hottest weekend of this year

personally i'd use it as long as it isn't rotting badly and just attach a decent fan to control the heat if needs be

I know to many on here the idea of tinkering with there Landy is something they do everyday but to me, a complete novice when it comes to anything mechanical, it is something I havea been putting off until I can't afford the labour costs. Well, that day has come. I blew the head gasket a week ago and the parts are inexpensive the skimming and pressure testing isn't to extortionate but the money wanted to do it I couldn't find. So Haynes manual in hand and SORN done I am working through it.

So far oil drained, water drained I flushed out the rad. Water finally ran clear. Removed the plastic bit over the fan and some hoses. Going to flush out inter cooler too then get to work on the gasket. Any tips advice and recommendations on what substances to use while I for the first time get my hands dirty would be very much appreciated.

It's a G reg defender 110 with a 200tdi in it. I got the fuel pump completely refurbed less than a year ago and that is all so far.

I would be very surprised if you don't find lots of info in Busters threads :clap2: .
