Please help.

I.ve traced the plug at the back, closest to the rear door. I've unplugged it on the center console as well as the instrument pack. Also unplugged the lighter. Does it go anywhere else?
I have a dead short on my Fuse 1 and can't seem to find the problem.
My centre aircon is dead, as well as all the lights. The buttons for EAS and stuff at the top still works, but all the lights are dead. My instrument pack is dead as well. The fuel cap release still works.

It may well be that the cable has chaffed through at some point and is shorting to the chassis.

I've checked the cable as far as I can see it. Seems to be fine.

As far as you see!.Disconnect the cable at both ends and then measure with a multimeter( Ohms/resistance range) between one end of the cable and vehicle chassis.Should be open circuit/high resistance.If not your cable is shorting where you cant see it.

Clever ! ! ! Told my wife I'm no auto elec. Will do and see if I get resistance. The part I can't see is inside that plastic? sleeve type thing below the steering. I'm going to check it now.

If you dont find a short, check key illumination,footwell lights,clock,radio,instrument cluster and centre console switch pack.

Thanks. It started raining, so I'll have to wait till it stops. The whole centre console is out.
Still a short.
The radio is out.
Still got the short.
Instrument pack - OUT.

Will go check the other stuff as soon as I can work on the car again.
