My one cost me 190 when all was said and done....

WHen you look for it, see if you can pop open the case of the reciever, there are 3 variants in circulation. An original one that is frankly crap, an updated one that came on later models that solved a couple of problems and the latest model (brought in after the car was no longer sold!!!!) that will fix all issues...

I have a 2000 DHSE and that had the later interim part fitted, which was fine unless the car was parked next to house on the driveway...

RF reciever is in the rear of the vehicle under the plastic cover on the drivers side. Think its a single screw and several plastic clips to get at, its a stupid little black plastich thing with 2 connections in it...

See what you have and order a new one only!!!!!

Why not just remove the aerial and see how that goes?

Because it doesn't completely solve the problem, so there's still the risk of the door locks burning out :/
(Not to mention the stabbing of the unlock button up against the window gets a little tedious :p )

Because it sometimes messes up the auto sync that occurs on 99 and on MY cars when the key is put in the ignition and when the receiver starts to play up it can burn the locks. Cheaper to do the job properly in the first place.

What do you mean when you say it will burn out the locks? Excuse my ignorance
The RF receiver starts to oscillate causing the lock motors to constantly pulse and eventually burn.
If you decide on a new battery, consider battery megastore, Alphaline C31, 135AH 1000CCA, the biggest that will fit, cures a multitude of P38 problems, about £98 delivered.

Regarding the battery, it is a good idea: I recently changed to a big one (although not quite that size) and it held her charged for over 6 weeks with no issues. P38's HATE low battery volts so if the battery is original and is being clobbered by RF discharging, it's a good investment
