hi had to buy a new battery. could not undo the plastic holding clamp and in the end i snapped it. Had to strap it in with cable ties to get me over christmas. Any one changed theirs for something better ?

Yep, happens to a lot of us. New one is cheap enough. Drill out the bolt and put a new nut and bolt in from the bottom up and cover with a lot of grease.

Put mine back on with the steel wall plugs you use on hollow walls,the ones that come with a threaded bolt.then all you do is tighten the bolt with a screw driver and it nips the plug in place.the old case nut just knocks out dead easy to do .

There is no MOT requirement for the battery retaining mechanism to be checked.

I thought the battery had to be secure... ?

Done a quick search and as of April '13 an insecure battery became a fail. I thought it had been in a lot longer than that though personally.

battery must be secure but the cover has hinden that part for last 2 mot's, must put bracket back on, now where did i put it

Battery clamp bolt, 12Nm.
Little more than hand tight.
