Hi there i hope someone could help..

well i've noticed this as its been dry since i got the disco, well with the heavy rain recently i thought i would have no problems with puddles... HOW WRONG WAS I....

Well coming up to a roundabout today, i noticed it was flooded so rather than causeing loads of problems by avoiding it like all other drivers i thought i'd drive throught :) seeing the splash made me feel like a big kid, then i cra***d my self as the power stearing cut out, (while going round the roundabout,, lukily i was going slow so it wasny too bad but if i was going a little faster the wall would have been my new bumper), after getting out of the other side i was about to pull over when it was safe to do and it then corrected its self???? (about 10 meters).. so being curious i found a carpark with puddles in and every time i drive though and it causes a splash my battery light comes on and i loose power stearing?????? there is obiously water getting on somewhere but where (note it dosent matter if its the left or right side that goes thorugh the puddle) and if water was getting somewhere why is it correcting it's self after 10 or so meters?

Many Thanks for reading and thanks for any help/advice in advance.

the water is making the belt that drives the ps pump slip.
it's worth checking the tension, but it may be unavoidable - just something to be aware of when wading.

Drive belt slipping. Stops driving alternator and ps pump until it dries out.
