is the higher the amps the faster the battery charges. at the minit ive got a trickle charger nd its 1.2 amps and takes literaly a day to charge a battery that not totaly dead.on ebay and theres ones on there which are more amps but then only say there for small engines.bit confused about the amps and charge time etc

The more current going into a battery will charge it quicker, but to many amps when charging can boil the battery, unless you get the top of the range charger that senses and adjusts the current and voltage according to the state of the battery, a bit like a CTec maintenance charger which I have and leave on overnight every few months.

My Ctek a XS 3600 I believe is working 24/7 for the last 5 years connected to a classic car in the garage, that and the disco both have the direct battery connectors.

Doubtfull that the lead would reach the grill and if it did the charger would be laying out in the open

The optimate are waterproof, but I do keep it off the ground as a common sense precaution. Worth looking into if it is possible on your car/drive, keeps the battery ready at all times
