Hi all...anybody had battery discharge problems?. I have a 1997 4.6 P38 and the battery looses charge overnight..down to 10v. I have replaced the old battery but it is still happening. I have checked for any interior lights staying on etc etc. but to no avail. However I checked the alternator output today and it reads over 16v on tickover.

i suggest yu search on here for battery discharge before yu get absolutely slaughtered. it must be the most common Q for a P38 .

psssst.

Have a look for RF receiver problems - the unit in the boot that receives the signal from the key when you push the button on it to unlock.

16 volt from an alternator is a bit high, it's supposed to be regulated to 14.2v

I reckon your alternator is fecked, 16 volts is way too high, sounds like the battery is also shot.
