So my mate has been desperate for a defender for a while now, finally last night he took the plunge and won one on eBay, then today at work got made redundant!

So, he will be £1300 up from selling his polo/buying the fender but he says it's too risky now and he is going to try and back out of the sale.. I think he should buy it and keep the £1300 for repair work if needed or spare cash if things get really hard..

Need your opinions folks supposed to be picking it up at 7pm!

:( sods law ain't it. A fenders nice but its a luxury and luxuries have to be sacrificed when you ain't working. The polo would be a cheap wee car to run so he'd be silly to swap it for a thirsty old diesel. Best to back out of the sale, he might **** the seller off but hopefully he'll understand and your mate will be better off at least for now until he finds more work

Its hard to find work nowadays so if hes likely to be out of work for a while keep the polo

Keep the polo. There are plenty of defenders about, if he gets a job soon he can just find another one.

Its a tricky one how would he feel if a buyer wanted to back out of something he sold, on the other hand he has good reason, talk to the seller and tell him whats happened, if hes ok about it then its all good, he may leave negative feedback though!

In situations like this your family has to come first. It's a shame though.

I suspect most sellers would understand , sadly not all though

Well he's a plumber and I was thinking he could use the 90 as his van (current one is company) all the tools are his so might be able to use it for local jobs until he gets a proper job.. He's only young, only got his prick to keep no kids or anything.

It was a cheap fender (£2300) and he was expecting to have to put money into it to get it right. I think he's worried he will sell the polo then fender will blow up and he will have no car.. But then £1300 leftover from polo should cover most things I would have hoped :O

Surely a plumber can pick up work if the word gets out from friends, neighbors, and family. Lots of old people with drippy tapes that just need the washer changed, that most plumbing companys won't touch with a barge pole. And surely could get a bit of other handy man work.

Its a difficult decision but having a trade like a plumber surely he could get plenty of work,my mate got charged £160 quid for putting a toilet in and that was a straight swap over,
Redundancy is a scary time happened to me few years back but got a good pay out, keep us updated on the outcome

Depends what his out goings are mortgage ? Rented ?
Or if he is still at home then worth
the risk
But the things above come first !

Ps how's your mouth and better still how's that landy :
Lucky git.

Well he didn't go for it.. Which is probably a sensible decision but still, I wanted him to get one!

Told him to man the f*** up and just do it but he wouldn't have it haha :D

As for getting work, he's a industrial plumber and iI think he's being a bit of a ponse about doing people toilets and drippy taps.. Got that silver spoon stuck too far up his a*** I think! :hysterically_laughi
