Morning all. Wondering if anyone could offer some advice on an idea that I have. Basically, what I am thinking of doing is getting hold of a 110 bench seat (the 1200mm long version) and fitting it in the back of my 90 but rather than side facing putting it forward facing across the wheel boxes. Obviously, this will be fitted with strenghtening plates underneath and will also have some centre legs welded on which will be bolted down through the tub floor, also with spreader plates underneath.
I want to use this seat for my 2 kids so booster seats will need to be used with it, as will proper 3 point seat belts although as of yet I am not to sure where these would fit too or if this would be possible??
I understand that this would be a little bit awkward to get the kids into but does anyone see any other problems I may have??

Regards

Adam

why not just get a couple of forward facing foldaway 90 seats?

Have been thinking about similar since I may be looking to get an 88" series but not sure I would be happy with the safety of a bench seat, they are very thin and dont think a booster would sit properly on it.

Seat belts could be retro fitted but again there would be a bit of modification required to get them fitted properly.

Personally I would spend the extra and get the proper seats. It is your little ones safety after all.

Of course safety is the main factor here - but what I need is the space left to be able to get my dogs in the back aswell so foldaway seats are not really an option. Think I need a bigger landy!!!

folding seats will take little more room than a bench but will be a lot safer and can be folded out of the way when not used giving you most of your boot space back :)

I have found my 110 CSW is fine as a family car (4 doors, 5 seats and a large boot) but with the way work is going im looking for a repmobile for work and a swb lr for weekends and winter so only planning on fitting one folding seat.

Guess I will just leave it for now then. I have the other halfs car which we use to take the kids and dogs out but with full cream carpet and leather it is hard to clean all the time, so would have been easier if I could just throw the kids and dogs in the landy but the foldaway seats will not leave enough space for the dogs which defeats the object really.

similar problem for me, but not kids and dogs, mates and bikes.. i have side facing bench seats with no belts as i dont like the idea of belts on inward facing ones.. but i dont like how unsafe they seem! no way can i justify spending 500 on 2 fold away forward facing seats for the amount they are used..

iv got 2 recaro bucket seats and 3 point harness facing forward in back of my 90 easy enough job to do just used some heavy duty flamco rail and bolted with plates very safe kids carnt move if do belts up tight, but not much room behind for dogs tho.

I just got hold of 2 mini bus seats with seatbelts integrated then put them in rearwards facing. Iv got twins so they go in the back and as their fitted close up to the bulkhead plenty room still for their double buggy.

I will try put some pics up if anyones interested. Pete:D

Yeah would be interested in pics please mate.

I know its been talked about before, not sure of end result tho. What about te folding rear seats out of a disco with mods of course? Was thinking of this for mine as will have to do engine soon so will buy a whole car

Transit seats fit perfectly between the arches and have seat belts built in. You will have to lift the toddlers over the bulkhead or get them to climb round, but they work great. Kinda takes away the load space though - yer better off with a 110!
