hi peops im new here , i done some work on my girlfriends dads 90 as his front wheel brg collapsed and he carried on driving till he lost drive as the outer spline of the cv sheered off we bought a second hand hub and cv joint fitted it but when you drive down the road the road it seems somthing is catching on the wheel/caliper and at low speed you can see the axle twisting( only a bit ) on the side that has had work done but if you put the beast in neutral and jack it up the wheel spins free help as untill its fixed im stuck with the thing on my driveway

could be that the stub axle is bent or severely worn, if it was abused like that

If the axle is twisting something is seriously wrong. I would strip it down again and inspect everything really carefully.

You sure you replaced the hub, and wheeb bearings, correctly?

Does sound like the stub axle is bent thobut .. indeed I'd suspect the axle tube itself may be bent .. if the numpty drove it long enough the frictional heat may well have damaged anything.

we changed the whole lot , but it spins free when jacked up

If it's free when jacked up but locks up when under load enough to twist an axle, then it suggests something's broken/not tightened correctly/fitted wrongly.

check the bearings are loaded properly, as if it spins with no weight on it you may find its a preload bearing issue, resulting in this twisting with weight on it.

Jack up the wheel and select a gear (with the engine running, difflock NOT engaged and CAREFULLY release the clutch (make sure it CANT jump off the jack) and see if it wobbles then, to see if its drive related (i.e. when theres power from the inside rather than just spinning the wheel)

Is it possible that a tooth is missing in the diff or debris in the diff?? If it has indeed been driven into the ground like described it would put massive ammount of stress and strain on all the other driveline components. Jai
