so if they are 3 ton rated,there are 4 of them.that 12 ton overall.you reckon the tractor is 6 ton.so no probs is there.:rolleyes:

I dont reckon they are lightweight ones, compare them to the size of the tread and other bit - I reckon 2 or 3 inch

Each strap is rated to over 4 tonne, it was in gear, handbrake on, loader pushed onto the trailer, it didn't move an inch. All of the transport guys use less straps than I do and I've never seen a tractor arrive using chains so I think if the professionals use less than I do I'm perfectly safe thank you. I know what I'm doing.

Here chains are the normal on equipment etc very few use straps to fasten loads. Never said you didn't know what you were doing. Just asked you question was all. Then another jumps in and starts a row;)

swl of a ratchet strap is half it's rated load. appreciate you're only doing 20mph ish up the road but you might as well fit no straps. if for whatever reason that thing decides it's going to move them straps will snap like shoelaces.

Most are tied down on lorries by putting a strap over the back of one tyre, across the back and I've the top of the other then tie down at angles on both sides then the same at the front and that's it. And they do 56mph for a lot greater distances than I'm doing. TBH the weight of the tractor itself provides enough traction to stop it moving. I could have done it without straps but they're there for safety. :)

that is still a safe load then because it is only 6 ton,or so thor thinks??.so still 8 ton rating.

There is almost no circumstance where this would move, the only possible thing would be being hit head on by a truck at quite a speed, and then I think I've got bigger problems :rolleyes:
