Hi I need some advice on diff and axle oils I recently changed the oil in my defender td5, not having a td5 manual I followed some info in defender manual.
Now the problem is I used comma gear oil semi synthetic sx 75w/90 GL5 in the axles and now I'm woried it's the wrong stuff.

Any advice please, Bob

Don't use it in yer transfer box though - that needs GL4

Hi, thanks for the reply it is good to know, next problem is this oil was sold to me for the transfer box fortunetly I have not chaneged it.

if you use gl5 it damages brass internals, got to be gl4, a made same mistake and had to drain it all oot

later T/F boxes are OK with GL5, but no-one seems to know from when.
safer to stick with GL4.
