Hi all, I get there is an issue with the TD4 gearboxes and reverse. Is there a similar one on the 2.0 L Series Diesel? 0

The manual boxes are different as well the L & K Series engines are always mated to a Rover PG1 manual gearbox - the TD4 can be mated to a Jatco auto or Getrag manual,

Sorry, my bad. For some reason I thought it was an L. It's actually an 03 so TD4. I'll go read the TD4 threads. :)

Well, yes. If a whole bunch of similar threads pop up in a short time. It kinda gets the attention of regular contributors. ;)
I'm thinking of buying one. A hippo that is...
Thought the peTrolls seemed a good option at first but the auto box gets recommended for greenlaning. So it seems a TD4 would be the better option. But then I read that the TD4 has issues with the injectors. So now I'm wondering.

There's a known issue of removing the wrong bolt at the back of the Jatco auto (auto on the FL1) and yer loose reverse gear. Many have done it including diy and garages. Peeps remove it thinking it's the level plug - it's not and should never be removed. It's a sod to fix as yer need to take the auto oft the engine to put the reverse band back. One garage managed to do it through the same hole (where the wrong bolt lives) by drilling a new hole in the middle of the bolt. Still difficult to do if the band has moved too much. I have put the correct process of refilling and level checking the Jatco auto in the FL1 on ere.

The V6 would be my on and off road choice. TD4 auto would be my second choice.
