Just heard off the transmission Co, they told me me disco will be ready tuesday cos the torque converter has burnt out, Does that mean the gearbox IS knackered and needs rebuilding? I assume cos the t/c has gone it fecks the box aswell?

You can replace the TC not problem. Just be careful that the pump doesn't get damaged as well as the TC locates in the pump. There is also a seal in there that is easily damaged too.

if you need new parts to renew the pump etc.Ashcroft transmissions at luton beds sorted the bits for me when my pump went .straight off the shelf very helpfull dudes.

I expect they will have drained the box oil and changed the filter too so all the old burnt oil will be gone and nice smooth changes now.
